In Cameroon adolescent girls still continue to face a lot of difficulties with respect to menstruation. These problems range from stigmatization, lack of sanitary pad, limited access to clean water, and the lack of menstrual hygiene education. This has greatly contributed to the poor performances of girls in school due to the fact that of the girls turn to absent from school during their menstrual flow. Lack of menstrual health education has also contributed to their exposure to infections and diseases and other related problems.
In a bit to close this gap GWAH join the UN women by launching a campaign to promote menstrual hygiene amongst adolescent school girls to commemorate this year 2023 menstrual hygiene day under the theme ”MAKING MENSTRUATION A NORMAL FACT OF LIFE BY 2030”. we visited Francios-soh collage and happi Elite English nursery and primary school where we had an interactive session with young girls.
Girls were educated on how to clean their under wears, how often to change their sanitary pads and how to use sanitary pads.
